Strike Zone a romance novel by Kate Angell

Strike Zone is a fun novel with entertaining characters. The story is about Brett Stryker, a professional baseball player, and Taylor Hannah. Taylor left Brett at the alter 3 years ago and now hears that Brett is engaged to someone else, so she rushes home to see him.

The story has lots of fun twists and turns. Like Taylor dressing up as the team mascot and getting into fights with the other team mascot when he makes fun of Brett.

There is another story in the book about Taylor’s sister Eve and another pitcher on the team, Sloan. To be honest, I liked this story better. Sloan is a popular ladies man and at first was interested in Taylor. Eve knows this and wants nothing to do with him. Especially when he tells her he only goes on 3 dates and then he’s onto someone new. Eve loses a bet with Sloan and has to go on 3 dates with him. Sloan realizes that he really likes Eve and wants more than the 3 dates but his reputation continues to cause him problems with Eve.

This is good, fun book. I’ve read another book by Kate Angell and liked it better than this one but I don’t remember the title.

Until next time...

Montana Gold a romance novel by Genell Dellin

Hi everyone,

Here’s a book by an author I had never heard of, Genell Dellin. I really enjoyed it.

It’s about a rodeo star, Chase Lomax, who is getting older and his injuries are catching up with him. Elle Hawthorne is a female bullfighter with intimacy issues of her own.

During one rodeo, both are hurt and require the help of the other to heal. These two loners learn that loving and trusting someone is worth the risk of getting hurt. They work together to get past their injuries and emotional barriers that they have put up to protect themselves.

Chase has been an absentee father for many years and now has to step up to the plate and be a parent to his 16 year old son, Shane. As every parent knows, mistakes and forgiveness are key players in a parent/kid relationship.

In my opinion, this is an excellent book and I will definitely go find more works by Genell Dellin. It is very well written with characters that touch your heart.

Thanks for reading with me.

Until next time...

No Holding Back a romance novel by Liz Allison and Wendy Etherington

If you've read any of Pamela Britton's NASCAR series of books, you will love "No Holding Back" by Liz Allison and Wendy Etherington. This is a fun, fast paced novel about putting everything on the line. It is written with the same style as Pamela Britton's books.

Isabel is a PR executive and Cade is a race car driver for NASCAR. Both work hard for their families and don't want to let them down. At NASCAR there are rules that the PR people cannot be in a relationship with the drivers or the teams. Isabel and Cade find their someone special in each other but try to keep their relationship a secret from everyone, especially their families because they could lose their jobs. Both Isabel and Cade love their jobs and don't want to risk them but they also don't want to give up their relationship. Let's just say they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Of course, keeping a secret like falling in love from family and friends is difficult to do and very stressful.

For some reason I love the NASCAR books. I'm not a NASCAR fan or even know much about the sport, but I've been drawn into these books like a moth to a flame. Happy reading.

Until next time...

Big Girls Don't Cry a romance novel by Cathie Linz

Hi,

I would like to tell you about Big Girls Don't Cry by Cathie Linz. This is a great lighthearted book about a plus size model, Leena Riley, falling in love with the hot town veterinarian, Cole Flannigan.

As a kid Cole had the bad idea of making fun of her weight. I say "bad idea" because she punches him and 15 years later everyone in the small town of Rock Creek remembers the incident and Cole can't live it down.

This is the third book I've read by Cathie Linz. The characters are introduced in the first book "Good Girls Do." A great book about a bad boy named Luke and a small town librarian, Julia. The second book is "Bad Girls Don't" with Julia's sister Skye and the straight-laced town sheriff Nathan, who is best friends with Cole in "Big Girls Don't Cry."

All three books are winners. Cathie Linz has a humorous writing style and memorable characters. For example, there is the nun who taught Skye how to get out of handcuffs. Leena's sister, Sue Ellen, who manages a trailer park and drives a pink car nicknamed "Batmobile." There's Lulu the teenage Goth girl and the cat named Gravity.

These books make a great series but are also great if read out of order (as I did).

Until next time...

Seventh Heaven a romance novel by Catherine Anderson

Hello all fellow romance readers!

I decided to start my blog off with a review of an older Catherine Anderson novel Seventh Heaven. I stumbled upon this book years ago at the library and it got put at the bottom of the pile of books I was going to read. It just didn't really catch my interest at the time and I hadn't heard of Catherine Anderson. When I got to it I couldn't put it down! I loved it! And now Catherine Anderson is one of my favorite authors and her books are always at the top of the pile. I've read almost everything she has written. Her characters are likable and they are not perfect.

A little about the book: Joe and Marilee are high school sweethearts that are separated for 10 years who reunite and realize that they are still in love with each other. They have 10 years of issues to work out before they can live happily ever after.

Seventh Heaven is an excellent romance novel that tackles some important issues (child abuse, the difficulty of being a single parent, and being a victim of crime). But it really is a lighthearted book with a big dog who is scared of everything and a four-year-old boy doing typical kid stuff (like peeing in the snow). You will find yourself smiling and laughing to yourself at times and your heart breaking at others. This is a versatile book that would be a good book for a women's book club or just a fun book to read in your spare time. Only one warning, you may not want to put it down.

Others by Catherine Anderson that I've read and loved: Blue Skies, Phantom Waltz, Baby Love, Bright Eyes, Simply Love, Morning Light, My Sunshine, Summer Breeze, Sweet Nothings, Only By Your Touch, Annie's Song, and Keegan's Lady.

Please send me any books or authors that you would like me to review or post for others to see. I always love finding a new author or book. Until next time......
