Loose and Easy a romance novel by Tara Janzen

I’ve liked everything I’ve read by Tara Janzen and Loose and Easy is another good one. This is part of her Steele Street series but those characters are more in the background than in her previous novels. Johnny is an elite military guy with fast muscle car who rescues the lady, who doesn’t need much rescuing; that seems to be Tara Janzen’s recipe for her novels and they are always entertaining.

Johnny Ramos has had a thing for Esme Alden since the 7th grade. She was the class valedictorian and he was the bad boy whose older brother ran a notorious gang until he was shot dead. They meet again when he is home on leave from his 3rd tour of duty in the Middle East and sees her walking down the street looking like a hooker. So he follows her to a hotel where he hears a scuffle in the room and gets a maid to open the door to find a man hog tied dressed in a dog collar, but no Esme. He follows her out the window and back to her father’s PI business to find out that Esme the good girl is not so good anymore. She now carries a gun and a knife and knows how to use them. They keep outrunning the bad guys, just barely the whole way through the book and find out that they don’t want to live without each other.

There are so many fun things in this book like Johnny being the star of an art show where he posed nude for a painting; his car looks like a reject but is very fast and powerful; and the reenactment of a 7th grade dare.

My only problem with this book is that Janzen hints at her next book which won’t come out for another 10 months! I never read the teaser for the next book because then I want to read it but either can’t easily find it or it doesn’t come out for another 6 months to a year.

Until next time!
